About ICE
recumbent Trike manufacturer

Inspired Cycle Engineering (ICE) has been producing recumbent tricycles in Falmouth, England since 1999 but it can trace its history back to the original Trice first produced in 1986. This hard earned experience coupled with the sheer pleasure of developing our unique recumbents drives us on to continually refine our trike designs and hone the comfort and performance of each machine.
Inspired
ICE has lead the trike industry in so many ways and this can be felt in the performance of every ICE trike.
Cycle
It’s what we do. As individuals, cycling is our favourite pastime. As a company, it’s our pleasure to know we enable people all over the world to ride and have as much fun as we do.
Engineering
in the past British engineering has had a formidable reputation and we are proud to be part of its future.
ICE’s range of premium recumbent trike models, each one built to order by our expert team, delivers the most refined and comfortable ride available today, with the performance of a thoroughbred. We put as much care and attention to the design of the trike’s accessories as we do to the trike itself, so the machine works perfectly as a whole. ICE’s reputation for building great trikes is matched by our customer support and fast delivery worldwide. Our aim is to always surpass people’s expectations in everything we do. That is why ICE trikes have played their part in setting world records, cycling to the South Pole, touring the globe in supreme comfort, and winning countless races as well as enabling people to enjoy their daily commute or a relaxed trip to the shops.
Attention to detail is a way of life at ICE. From the first sketch of a new design to the final tightening of the last bolt, every part of the tricycle is scrutinised to ensure it will help deliver a ride worthy of an ICE trike. There is something special about our trikes, when you ride one you will find yourself smiling, a lot. That’s a promise.

Meet the Team

Neil Selwood

Neil Selwood

Neil started his working life as an apprentice in aircraft and precision engineering leading to many years as a CNC production engineer. A bit of a mid-life crisis made him question the large company environment and he therefore moved his family to Cornwall – a place where we all enjoy living. A chance encounter with Peter Ross of Crystal Engineering led Neil to Chris and together they hatched a plan to take over TRICE and together formed ICE. They both had a life-long connection to bikes and a passion for making things, recumbent trikes were just the exciting thing that they could get their teeth into. The company has grown to something that they could never have imagined and the enthusiasm remains. When Neil is not at work he is often out and about surfing at one of Cornwall’s many lovely beaches
Chris Parker

Chris Parker

Chris has a background in design and manufacturing and is a founder member and director of ICE. In the early years of ICE he split his time between brazing frames together and assembling trikes; his evenings were spent designing. He now splits his time between running the company and heading up the research and development team. His head is driven by perfection and his heart by beauty of form and function and these are passions are cultivated in ICE employees and built into every trike ICE produce.
Ben Dickinson

Ben Dickinson

Ben has been with ICE almost since the start. Multi-talented and obsessed with perfection he splits his time between product development and marketing. If it is made by ICE and looks good, Ben had a hand in it. A keen trike rider of many years, Ben has done many miles of product development and testing. Ben is the former World HPV Multi- track champion riding his works-prepared ICE trike and was crowned British Multi-track (trikes) Champion in 2003 in the British Human Power Club (BHPC) series.
John Olson

John Olson

John is an ICE veteran of many years and spends more of his day than he would like keeping our IT alive and healthy, His boundless knowledge of everything is key to ICE’s success. John is a vastly experienced craftsman who was a key part of our manufacturing team until being handed the poisoned chalice that is IT, a role in which he excels. John, originally from Canada, designed and built his first of many recumbents back in 1980; experience like that cannot be bought.
Hero Selwood

Hero Selwood

Hero keeps the whole company running smoothly by answering the phone, preparing sales orders for customers and sorting out paperwork for shipping the trikes all over the world. She also does any other little jobs which don’t require too much technical know how as she claims to know little about trikes, which is not entirely true. In her spare time Hero enjoys patchwork and quilting and, in the summertime, swimming in the sea off the beaches in Falmouth.
Mikiko Kimura

Mikiko Kimura

Kim is one of the original members at ICE. Kims busy workload includes assembly, quality control and packaging of the ICE Accessories. She also divides her time as the Accounts Assistant and Translatorfor the company speaking Japanese, Taiwanese and English. In her spare time she is a full time mother and a keen runner.
Darren Osbourne

Darren Osbourne

Darren worked in the local Tin mining industry before joining ICE. Working in a dry workshop lit with sunlight suits his health better but he misses the danger. Darren is a key part of our in-house manufacturing team making many of the smaller accessories we sell. His need for danger is satisfied by his hobbies; fire juggling, and shooting antique firearms. He also runs a toy shop in his spare time.
Phil Plumridge

Phil Plumridge

After many years of heading up the engineering department of a local college Phil finally had his fill of paperwork and office politics. He was fortunate enough to escape back into the 'real world' in 2009 when he started working for ICE where he looks after the purchasing side of the business. Outside of work Phil is busy as church leader. He can also be found blowing a clarinet in a Cornish street band bringing a range of lively traditional music to local events, dances and festivals. Unusually for an ICE employee Phil is not a keen cyclist and struggles with the idea of a vehicle that does not have its own engine.
Daniel Pearce

Daniel Pearce

Dan joined the company in 2009 as a mechanic, neglecting to mention his degree in photography. His talents soon came to light and he now lives a double life split between the wheel building workshop and creating ICE promotional films and photographs. When not editing films or building wheels he can be found throwing himself down steep hillsides on this mountain bike.
Andy Tebbutt

Andy Tebbutt

Andy Joined the team in 2010 having worked in the cycle trade most of his life, He left the challenges of managing a cycle shop in Loughborough to head up the final assembly section of the ICE trikes production facility. Here attention to detail is essential as every trike must be as good as the next.
Nathan Jarvis

Nathan Jarvis

Nathan originally joined ICE in 2010 as part of the Production team. He now leads the production and assembly teams for the building of our trikes as the Workshop Manager. He brings a wealth of experience and expertise with over 25 years of engineering understanding in various fields. His spare time is taken up as Co-Organiser of the Strava ICE Challenge Cup and as a very successful dancer in Jive, Swing, Ballroom and latin; when time allows he loves nothing more than riding his MTB in charity challenge events
Patrick Selwood

Patrick Selwood

Patrick has retired from the world of quantum physics to take on the bigger challenge of Technical Support here at ICE, so its more than likely that if your emailing ICE HQ for help/guidance it will be Patrick who replies. He is also the ubiquitous face and “twenty-something ectomorph” of the promotional videos and photos. Riding bikes, trikes and velomobiles is what makes him happy.
Wayne Spencer

Wayne Spencer

Wayne is amongst many other things a God fearing fully qualified car mechanic, every factory should have one! He has an appetite for work that leaves others trailing in his wake. His time is split between putting together sub-assemblies of trike parts and packing built trikes prior to shipping; the accuracy and care taken in packing helps to ensure happy customers.
Tim Bodman

Tim Bodman

Tim joined ICE in 2010 to manage the money side of the business that nobody else cares very deeply about. Having spent many years in banking he revels in the honesty of day-to-day business. Having an ex-bank manager on staff is a must when it comes to discussions with our own bank! Tim is new to the sporting world but this emersion is having a positive effect on him. It has been rumoured that Tim’s physique was the inspiration for the HD version of the Adventure.
Paul Edgerley

Paul Edgerley

Paul, an engineering graduate and world traveller, joined ICE in 2011. He adds a little science to the Research and Development team and seems unconstrained by the laws of physics, a handy talent when designing the future. A keen cyclist with a rapidly growing fondness for the thrill of three wheels, he is learning fast and his influence is spreading across the rest of the team.
Ewen Bell

Ewen Bell

Ewen joined ICE in 2012 having completed 26 years in the Royal Navy as a fireman, aircraft engineer and finally as an instructor of avionics to young trainees. He now applies this experience to honing the quality assurance procedures and has seized the mantle of health and safety aka the boring stuff. In his spare time Ewen is also the chairmen of a charity that helps adults with learning difficulties develop in the community, he even manages to squeeze in teaching cycle safety in local schools.
Matt Evans

Matt Evans

Matt joined ICE in 2012 after 23 years of service in the Royal Navy as a Survival Equipment Engineer and Instructor. He currently works as our Warehouse stock controller and Deputy Workshop Manager. He also runs the ICE Ebay store. In his spare time he Co-Organises our Strava ICE Challenge Cup and competes in local MTB Orienteering events and charity challenge MTB Rides
Euan Crowder

Euan Crowder

Whilst growing up, bikes, in various stages of completion, were a constant, as is his passion for anything on two wheels. He works as part of the R&D team, as well as producing all the product instructions and organising/designing the shows and events throughout the year.
Tina Fieldhouse

Tina Fieldhouse

Tina has been working in the manufacturing industry since leaving college. Tina has mainly worked as a mechanical assembler but has also done soldering and became a team leader while working for Raymarine. Tina then worked as an electrical assembler up until 2012. After moving to Cornwall with her family Tina has joined ICE and has already proven to be an invaluable part of the workshop team.
Matt Le Ruez

Matt Le Ruez

Matthew came from the medical device industry to join the ICE team in 2014, having had a brief taste of ICE in 2010 during a break from studies in an aerospace engineering degree. From school and home life Matthew has had an interest in human power on 2 or 3 wheels. Now working as one of our production team building trikes, ensuring that they reach our customers safely and in house manufacture of accessories.
